The Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City was one of the most famous casinos in the world. Former owner Donald Trump even called it ‘the eight world wonder’. This month, the story of this iconic casino came to an end. Due to financial losses and strikes, the Taj Mahal closed its doors forever.
Financial losses and strikes
The Trump Taj Mahal had to deal with financial losses and a declining number of visitors for years. Besides that, a strike went on for months. The casino simply couldn’t go on the way it always had. No one expected this sad ending when the casino opened its doors on april 2, 1990. Neither costs nor efforts were spared when building the Taj Mahal casino. Business tycoon Donald Trump invested a billion dollars to establish a magnificent place.
The end of an era
Gamblers could visit Taj Mahal one last time in the night of October 10. For many people it gave a nostalgic feeling to play casino games in this iconic place one more time. It was also still possible to sleep in the hotel. At 5.59 in the morning, the lights of the slots went out forever.
