Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is one of the most famous casinos in the world. Interestingly enough it has showed interest in Maastricht. It’s thinking about opening a branch in this city in the province of Limburg.
Caesars Palace sees Maastricht as an interesting opportunity to gain ground in the Netherlands. According to Executive Vice President Jan Jones Blackhurst the Netherlands is the perfect place to invest. It has a lot of tourists and, even more important, a good image. Caesars Entertainment Corporation also wants to invest in bigger cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
No longer a monopoly
The interest of Caesars Palace is a sign that Holland Casino no longer has a monopoly on casinos in the Netherlands. This is the result of a recent decision from the Dutch government. The government no longer sees it as their task to provide casino’s. So this year Holland Casino will be privatized. Several investors have already shown interest to buy the former stated-owned company.
Caesars Palace is not the only big casino who has shown interest in the Netherlands. For example, the German company Gauselmann Merkur likes to build casinos in our country as well.
